FAIRFX is a rapidly growing international payment services provider and the direct competitor to Travelex. They have taken a revolutionary approach to the whole foreign exchange market for both individuals and businesses by cutting out the middle man and using state of the art technology. To communicate their outstanding product, FAIRFX commissioned us to create a motion graphic video.

MTV KNOWING YOUTH BRANDING

MTV Knowing Youth is MTV’s observatory of the Millennial Generation also know as Generation Y – their lives, their beliefs, their attitudes and their behaviours. In 2012 alone they connected directly with over 50,000 Millennials.

We were approached by MTV to completely redesign the MTV Knowing Youth brand to give it a more modern and recognisable look that would sit well with the new MTV brand guidelines. We came up with a solution that visually joined the word Knowing with the word Youth through the letter Y, a reference to the Generation Y. This also symbolises how MTV are connecting with today’s youth.

As part of the redesign we also created merchandise products and a MTV Knowing Youth style guide.

ORIGINAL LIFF BRANDING

Original Liff belongs to Miami-based Kaldi who are selling Nespresso compatible coffee and tea capsules. Original Liff, which is their first own brand product, are tea capsules which work the same way as the coffee ones.

Our challenge was to appeal to a younger target audience by creating a fresh and natural look and feel but at the same time making the brand look established. We came up with a modern yet elegant solution using a symbol created out of tea leaf shapes.

COSTANZA BRANDING

Costanza are a rapidly growing Italian food company. They are very passionate about all things food and Italian.

With this branding it was important to capture both their Italian elegance and demand for quality. We chose lively colours reflecting the vibrancy of fresh Italian produce and a sophisticated typographic solution, adding a dash to the Z which symbolises the eye for detail they have for food. Discovery Networks needed marketing materials for clients and affiliates that would provide an overview of their main channels and programmes. The challenge was to produce something that would incorporate their 7 main channels, each of them having their own corporate design, in one book that was consistent with the Discovery network brand. 

ERTL Design created a book with tabs and colour codes to enable information to be easily accessed. The book also contained a USB stick with a movie menu to watch various Discovery programmes. The book is used all over the CEEMEA region and has been translated into several languages.

One of our clients liked our designs so much that he decided to commission two illustrations from us for his apartment. The only requirement was that the illustrations had to match the colours of the interior and carry two motivational phrases. Needless to say we thoroughly enjoyed this challenge!

SOS Childrens Village

For us good design is all about clear communication, especially when it comes to spreading a message loudly and clearly: helping highlight alternative child care realities in some of the poorest sub-Saharan African countries.
Through a partnership between the University of Malawi, CELCIS at the University of Strathclyde (UK) and SOS Children´s Villages, we created ‘Drumming together for change’, a 136-page report based on evidence gathered through national assessments of eight Sub-Saharan Africa countries. The report was introduced at an alternative child care conference in Malawi which also marked the national launch of SOS Children´s Villages’ Care for ME! campaign.

Design can make a difference and being aware of the sensitivity of the issue we used carefully chosen photography, hand-drawn illustrations reflecting the drumming theme. We also created a variety of infographics and illustrated roadmaps.

VIACOM/MTV/COMEDY CENTRAL INFOGRAPHICS

We love communicating information through design.

Viacom asked ERTL Design to create six infographics and a poster to sum up their findings for “The Next Normal: An Unprecedented Look at Millennials Worldwide” study. Unparalleled in scale, this was the first truly global portrait of the generation born at the turn of the century. Research spanned 24 countries across every continent; tapping into the minds of Millennials through 15,000 interviews, with in-depth explorations and expert commentary.

On top of that successful launch Viacom has also invited us to create an infographic for Comedy Central's “Comedy Across Borders” study spanning 13 markets. We also worked with MTV Australia to create a visual language and design a number of fun infographics for their MTV MOVEMENT campaign. The aim of MOVEMENT is to highlight issues that matter to young people and lead social action to improve the future of Australia. The campaign provides a platform for one person to become the voice of a powerful generation that needs to be heard.

Our infographics were used at press events and on MTV’s social media platforms.

THE STONE LAW FIRM BRANDING

We were delighted to help The Stone Law firm to help with their rebranding. They are a Texas based law firm who are passionately fighting to make care for the elderly more accessible in the state.

Being aware of legal requirements of law firm branding in the US we chose a clear and simple design using the letter S as a symbol for the legal path the Stone Law Firm is accompanying their clients on. The same theme is found at the back of the business cards using imagery. As their philosophy is that clients always come first and they have a very approachable attitude we chose a friendly light orange colour to help them stand out and differentiate from their competitors.

VODAFONE OFFICE RESTAURANT BRANDING

On this project we worked together with Force10 and Compass Group at Vodafone’s international headquarters in Newbury, Berkshire. This is a complex of seven office buildings with a workforce of more than 3,000. Vodafone asked us to improve the design and branding of their employee wellness initiatives, which is still an ongoing project. The first part of the challenge was to improve the staff restaurants, one of which was a street food take- away offer. We came up with a young and dynamic design, inspired by street vendors. At the same time we also made sure it would sit well with and complement the wider Vodafone brand. Urban materials like exposed brick, metal and concrete were used to complement the look.

KRICKER ARCHITECTS BROCHURE

Austria based Kricker specialise in producing bespoke high quality glass products for their clients who include leading architects. They wanted a brochure that would showcase their portfolio of previous commissions. Inspired by the reflective properties of glass, we designed a single colour spot UV cover. Inside, we used large headlines alongside big images to illustrate the quality of their work.

INTERTECH DIVERSITY FORUM

When the folks from Google and Skype decided to start the first diversity networking that encourages diversity and inclusion in the UK technology sector, we were very happy to support them from the very beginning.
More and more tech giants came on board and we stood proudly shoulder-to-shoulder with Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Accenture and Nokia as we helped launch the Intertech Diversity Forum. ERTL Design created the new Intertech brand and supported them with various other creative materials to promote this initiative.

SO Deli is an upmarket deli, which makes an artisan inspired delicatessen experience into an everyday indulgence. It is one of Eurest's most popular brands. After years of use it needed a complete overhaul to reflect provenance of product. The brief was "a twist on the traditional, yet distinctively modern". We produced these designs concepts in collaboration with Force10 Creative.

MTV STICKY REBRANDING

MTV Sticky is part of MTV Knowing Youth on the Viacom insights and research blog. It is about youth culture, trends and insights, written by Millennials about Millennials and curated by Sticky.

Viacom approached us to redesign their logo which looked outdated and needed to work next to the MTV Knowing Youth brand. Our solution was to have the word sticky in a customised font on a sticker. The designs were very well received and incorporated into variety of merchandise materials.

Every year Discovery encourage their employees to take part in the Global Corporate Challenge. Employees form teams and a special pedometer counts the movement of each participant. To motivate and support the people participating in the GCC we were asked to create a fun motion graphic spot. It was sent to a thousands of Discovery team members across the world. ERTL Design did everything from writing scripts and storyboards, through to drawing the illustrations, animating the final spot and choosing the background track.

COMPASS GROUP ICE CREAM CAMPAIGN

Compass Group UK & Ireland wanted an identity for their new own brand value ice cream offer for all of their UK & Ireland catering outlets, which replaced Walls ice cream. To promote the new products a new name and brand was created including POS, new ice cream chiller designs and promotional items like badges. 

Since then Love Summer Love Ice Cream has become one of the most popular ice cream brands UK & Ireland’s company canteens (including the BBC’s canteen) and other Compass Group leisure and retail outlets.

Compass Group UK & Ireland needed to refresh their kid's offer in their leisure division outlets to increase awareness for children’s meals in museum cafés throughout the UK. Therefore a new name, brand, illustrated characters, packaging and a promotional campaign was launched to aim at 3-8 year olds, which lead to an increase in sales throughout the cafe. 

Overall the marketing materials produced alongside the new food offer has increased customer satisfaction rating from 73% to 79%. Bristol Zoo cafe said ‘the monster bags are really popular and the kids are enjoying completing the puzzles on the bag’.

DISCOVERY NETWORKS CEEMEA ATLAS

Discovery networks needed a one-stop guide to their emerging market regions EMEA and CEEMEA for internal and external communications. ERTL Design created two brochures that not only present an insight into their portfolio of channels in the region but also gives insights about their key territories including culture, mindsets and unique media landscapes. To keep the reader interested and help to find information quickly we created illustrated infographics including fold-out typographic maps of Discovery channels and their competitors in the regions. Discovery networks were very happy with the outcome and the brochures had to be reprinted several times to keep up with demand.

COMPASS GROUP ACCELERATE WORKBOOK

Accelerate is Compass Group's own supervisor educational programme. To raise awareness and encourage staff to take part, Compass Group needed educational materials that were on brand and at the same time connect with the target group. 

ERTL Design created a series of brochures and an exhibition stand. Infographics and illustrations were used to make the learning materials more fun and engaging. The result was a complete success, participation rates rose considerably and the brochures were loved by the client as well as the students.

DISCOVERY NETWORKS 3D PROMOTION

Having always been way ahead of the curve, Discovery networks launched the first 24-hour 3D TV network. To promote their stunning 3D offering, they required a set of marketing materials that, like their programmes, would stand out from the crowd.

ERTL Design produced a 3D brochure, 3D packaging with a Blu-ray disc featuring the latest 3D programmes and an elegant bag. The packaging design embodied the 3D theme with an embossed logo on the cover of the packaging and an innovative folding mechanism that makes the disc pop out once the packaging is opened. The brochure included a pocket for branded 3D glasses and 3D images on the inside

DISCOVERY INSIGHT LABS SPUTNIK BROCHURE

Discovery Sputnik (Russian for companion, fellow traveller) is one of the largest TV industry research studies of the modern age. Its aim is to explore television viewing behaviour and attitudes to new TV technologies across eight countries with a focus on the emerging markets. Discovery networks asked ERTL Design to create a brand that works both in English and Russian. 


We produced a new flexible brand for Discovery using the “plus” symbol as a theme throughout. This branding ran through everything from a reversible USB stick and bespoke packaging to a brochure and other presentation materials.

Always trying to push boundaries Discovery networks needed a unique packaging to hold a disc featuring their prime channels and programmes to encourage clients to 'Discover More'. We kept the cover and back simple and elegant by going with a clear foil block. The inside in contrast is very colourful and shows the channels that are featured on the disc.

Jase Elves is a Fitness Trainer with ambition. Having a Royal Navy and MMA kickboxing background he knows how to bring his own experience into personal training and his own fitness business. Their approach is holistic, utilising not just his broad fitness knowledge but also scientific DNA-based diet solutions. We designed a young and fresh looking brand and a variety of other materials to support increase new client sign-ups.
